In three days, those who receive direct payments from the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program they will receive the only payment which will take place in November.
The maximum amount they will receive could be up to $914 for people who file their taxes individually.
The first payment for November will be sent on Wednesday, November 1, and is the first to be sent since the end of September.
The October payment was sent in September because October 1st fell on a weekend, so the payment was brought forward. In other words, there were two payments in October.
Payment amounts for beneficiaries vary depending on the person’s status. For individuals filing taxes individually, the payment rate is $914 per month.
Couples who file taxes jointly could receive monthly payments of up to $1,371 dollars.
People considered essential, who live with someone who receives SSI payments and provide them with necessary care, could receive a payment of up to $458.
To receive payments, people must be at least 65 years old and meet certain income requirements.
Some people under age 65 may also be eligible if they have partial vision problems or a physical or mental disability that significantly limits their daily activities for at least one year, or if this condition is expected to result in death.
Children could receive SSI payments if they have partial vision problems, a physical or mental condition that severely restricts their activities for at least a year, or if their parents do not receive SSI benefits and have low income and savings.
It is expected that the monthly amount of each benefit increases by 3.2% in 2024. This increase will apply in the same way to regular retirement payments, which are different from SSI payments.
Normal retirement payments can be received in addition to SSI assistance for seniors who qualify for both.
