If you’ve been confused, like us, about what’s going on with the buttons on the iPhone 16, you’re hardly alone.
Now it looks like the iPhone 16 Pro will not get pressure-sensitive buttons
Before the iPhone 15 Pro launch, there was talk that all fully digital buttons would become fully digital and offer pressure-sensitive presses. Then the rumor was changed so that only one action button would become pressure sensitive. As you know, the finished product ended with a physical action button. After the launch, a completely new rumor appeared: Apple will implement yet another new button, probably only for the 16 Pro models, at the same time that the iPhone 16 gets the action button known from last year’s Pro models.
MacRumors can now reveal that Apple is trying to figure out how to design the new button system – according to the Apple blog, this is what the company is investigating:
- A volume button combined with a small action button
- Combined volume button with large action button and a new record button
- Separate volume buttons with large action button and record button designed into the frame
- Separate volume buttons with small action button and recording button designed into the frame
“With the latest “Proto2″ design, Apple has once again changed the action button. The company has adopted a smaller action button that mirrors the action button on the iPhone 15 Pro, and removes the larger, smooth look,” writes MacRumors, who is unsure what the plan is with capacitive buttons, but doubts that this year’s models will get it then the company has already made major changes in another direction – it will be too late at the present time to change strategy.
