Upcoming Flagship Models: Powerful Chipsets and LTPO Displays Revealed

The upcoming flagship models will not only get a powerful chipset, but also an LTPO display
In Europe, however, we will most likely see a slightly different equipment
The well-known leaker also revealed the battery capacity of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus

The end of the year is fast approaching, and with it, the speculation regarding the new generation of flagship models from Samsung is intensifying. The South Korean giant traditionally presents its flagship smartphones at the beginning of the year, and so far there is no indication that it should be any different this time. A load of news that we learned about both from a well-known leaker Ice Universeso the popular Geekbench benchmark will surely please not only rock fans of the brand.

High performance and LTPO display

The first major innovation was brought by the already mentioned Ice Universe, who boasted on the X social network that the basic Galaxy S24 will get a 4755 mAh battery (4900 mAh typical capacity), while the Galaxy S24 Plus will boast a 4855 mAh battery (5000 mAh typical capacity). Furthermore, the upcoming Galaxy S24 and S24+ models will most likely be fitted with LTPO panels. In addition, there should also be a thinning of the frames around the display, which is always a popular step on the part of smartphone manufacturers. Samsung has already deployed the LTPO display on the Galaxy S23 Ultra flagship model, and in its case it helps with changes in the refresh rate, which is independent of the GPU and thus saves the battery.

Geekbench benchmark result of Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus smartphone

According to some speculations, the entire model series could also see a higher maximum refresh rate of the display, which could jump up to 144 Hz. While some swear by the higher frequency, in practice the difference between 120 Hz and 144 Hz is hardly noticeable and is therefore more of a marketing lure. What did not escape attention is also the Galaxy S24 Plus model, which appeared in the Geekbench benchmark a few months before the official presentation and revealed some interesting information.

Don’t overlook

Exynos back on the scene? It is said to power the Samsung Galaxy S24

First of all, it is the Android 14 operating system and also the used Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which scored 2233 points on one core and 6661 points on multiple cores and which is accompanied by 8 GB of RAM. The new chipset from Qualcomm most likely relies on a Cortex-X4 CPU clocked at up to 3.3 GHz, which is supported by three Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 3.15 GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.96 GHz and two Cortex-A520 cores running at 2.27 GHz. But in our latitudes we should not rejoice prematurely: alone Ice Universe mentions that in Europe we will see 100 percent Exynos 2400, while the variant with Snapdragon is supposed to be for the US.
