Classic. On Friday, November 24, in the Great Guild, the chief guest conductor of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) will be at the conductor’s desk, Kristīna Poska. Sergei Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto will be played by pianist Georgij Osokin. The program also includes the Fourth Symphony of the Danish classic Carl Nilsen, composed during the First World War, whose score is decorated with the phrase: “Music, like life, is eternal.”

Premiere. William Shakespeare’s tragedies have been performed in the Daugavpils theater Makbets a new production “outside the frames of the classical theater” – it is a story told in the language of movements, sounds and Shakespeare about an insatiable thirst for power that poisons the mind and drives it ever deeper into the swamp of inhumanity. The performance is mainly attended by the theater’s young actors who graduated from Stanislav Broka’s Daugavpils Music High School acting course this summer. The participants of the performance directed by Oleg Shaposhnikov have had a unique opportunity to delve into Shakespeare’s play and learn the verses of the classic in the original language with the help of British actor, teacher and researcher of Shakespeare’s works, Paul Goodwin.
