Not only has it just been confirmed that “Moana 2” is coming (and will be released this year!) – we also now know when we can expect some more highly anticipated animated sequels from Disney.

“Moana 2” is coming – and should start in November 2024! We were able to make many a Disney fan happy with this surprise this morning. But that’s not the end of the story.
In addition, Maushaus boss Bob Iger has now revealed the start dates for some of the most anticipated Disney animated films. Some already have a specific date, some with approximate time windows – which fans of the successful predecessors can use as a guide.
2025: “Zoomania 2”
“Zoomania”, which is also known internationally as “Zootopia” and “Zootropolis”, became one of the most successful films of the year in 2016. Over 1.028 billion US dollars at the box office showed: People love Flash the sloth, Hopps the bunny police officer and Co. – and would probably be happy to see the animal heroes return to the screen. This is exactly what will happen shortly:
“Zoomania 2” is scheduled to hit US cinemas on November 26, 2025 – and will probably also open in German film theaters at the same time.
2026: “Frozen 3” and “Toy Story 5”
The year after next will be particularly eventful, as two of the most popular, famous and successful franchises from Disney and Pixar will be continued: In 2026, both “Frozen” and “Toy Story” will continue!
However, the animation company has not yet announced any specific start dates for “Frozen 3” and “Toy Story 5”. As is the case with the “Star Wars” cinematic adventure “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” which is also scheduled for 2026.
“Inside Out 2” & “Mufasa” will be released first
While Disney is also working on various “Star Wars” and Marvel projects at the same time, there is of course a classic Mouse House replenishment coming in 2024. On June 13th, nine years after the acclaimed first part, “Everything’s Inside Out 2” finally returns to the mind of the main character Riley, who is now a teenager – and now has to struggle with completely new challenges, which again provide a roller coaster ride of emotions.
Just in time for Christmas, probably the most iconic Disney classic of the last 50 years will be continued with “Mufasa: The Lion King” (cinema release: December 19th). The film by “Moonlight” director Barry Jenkins follows on from the (largely still animated) live-action remake from 2019, but will not function as a sequel, but rather as a prequel – and will tell the back story of the Lion King.
