New tracks, new points, new cables: In the summer holidays there will be extensive closures of the Frankfurt S-Bahn and U-Bahn services. On Tuesday (11.30 a.m.) Deutsche Bahn, the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) and the city will provide information on how passengers can still get to their destination.
Frankfurt/Main – From July 22nd, work will be carried out on the S-Bahn line in the south of Frankfurt between the Ostendstrasse and Louisa stops. Part of the city tunnel has to be closed for this. The S-Bahn lines S3 to S6 are affected. The lines S1 and S2 as well as S7 to S9 are not affected, the railway said. In addition, the tunnel sections of the underground lines U4 and U5 will be closed. The U4 does not run at all, the U5 only between Preungesheim and the main cemetery. From September 4th, the trains should roll again as usual.
Elsewhere in Hesse, work is also being done on the renewal of railway lines during the summer holidays, including in the Odenwald, where a new electronic signal box is being built in the Fürth-Weinheim area, as Deutsche Bahn announced. There have long been restrictions in northern Hesse due to construction work on the ICE high-speed line between Fulda and Kassel. According to the current plan, this work will continue until December 9th.
There is also a lot of work being done on the highways in Hesse, as the Autobahn GmbH announced. According to the information, the A7 alone comes to around 10 construction sites. dpa
