The bridge at Schuilenburg over the Prinses Margriet Canal will be closed to traffic on Wednesday and Thursday, Rijkswaterstaat announces. Between Wednesday 9 a.m. and Thursday 3 p.m., traffic must detour via the bridge at Kootstertille. Cycling traffic from Eastermar can take the route via Joerelaan and Westerein. The diversions are indicated by signs. Shipping traffic can pass through.
It has to do with work on the bridge. The so-called bearing block is worn, creating space between the movable part of the bridge and the bridges. By replacing the block, it is expected that the bridge will also make less noise from now on.
The work must be done while there is also work to be done at the Kootstertille and Stroobos bridges. “I understand that it raises questions, but this work must be carried out. We have also been in contact with the area to announce it,” explains Andrea Nijboer of Rijkswaterstaat. “Our estimate is that it will work, also because the traffic also goes via other bridges. We expect the inconvenience to be less than expected, although it will always cause some inconvenience.”
