All three cell phone lines above use chipsets Size MediaTek 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 which will be announced next month. The latest leak says that these two flagship chips will be more expensive than the previous generation.
Digital Tipster Talk Station reported that the Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 had a price increase of around 20% compared to their predecessors. The reason is that production costs using TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing are also higher.

Specifically, Digital Talk Station said that Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is priced around USD 190 and Size 9400 around USD 155. However, this tipster said that this price is only a rough estimate as chipset prices may vary depending on product volume and exclusive agreements.
This is not the first time that news of a chipset price hike has circulated. Last June, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted an even bigger price increase, around 25-30%. Tipster Ice Universe also reported that the price of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 increased by around 20.68%, as reported from Phone Arena, on Tuesday (1/10/2024).
If cell phone sellers have to pay more for essential components such as chipsets, they are likely to pass the price increases on to consumers. So don’t be surprised if the prices of Android flagship phones rise this year and next year.
Currently there is only a leak of the price of the Xiaomi 15 series which is said to be sold at prices starting from 4,599 Yuan. For comparison, last year’s Xiaomi 14 was sold in China at a starting price of 3,999 Yuan.
