He said the courier wage calculation is very competitive in the logistics service industry.
“As an illustration, the average wage per package on the market ranges from IDR 1,700 and IDR 2,000 by other logistics services,” he said in an official statement, Monday (12/4).
He ensured that the Shopee Express wage scheme always followed the applicable regulations in the relevant area. In addition, the e-commerce company always follows price levels in the market in order to strive for the best meeting point between user demand and the availability of Shopee Express partners.
Shopee, he continued, also provides insurance coverage for Shopee Express driver partners. Then, courier partners have the freedom to choose their working day of operation.
“We also always listen to input and aspirations from Shopee Express driver partners, and continue to strive to maintain the comfort of all parties,” he said.

He said that the impact of the low wage policy was that Shopee Express couriers in Jabodetabek had been on strike since five days ago.
“They protested because their wages were reduced from Rp. 5,000 / package, Rp. 3,500 / package, Rp. 2,500 / package, and at the beginning of April to Rp. 1,500 / package. They did not get the minimum wage and social security,” he wrote.
He said that if the courier wages were lowered to Rp1,500 per package, the couriers would have to work harder. The reason is, the average package delivered to consumers takes ten minutes. Not to mention, they have to provide gasoline independently.
“Ten minutes per package is if the location of the recipient of the package is close to each other. If it is a bit far, it can take up to 30 minutes / package. Not to mention having to contact recipients who are sometimes not at home or have the wrong address. You can imagine how draining this work is,” he added.
