Up to 900,000 units in 2023: VW is significantly expanding e-car capacity in China

Volkswagen wants to significantly expand its production capacity for electric cars in China. In VW’s third Chinese e-car plant in Anhui, production will begin at the end of 2023, reports “Welt am Sonntag”, citing VW China.

So far, VWE has been producing cars in the two factories in Foshan and Anting. “This means that our annual production capacity will be up to 900,000 units in 2023,” the newspaper quoted the manufacturer as saying.

In 2021, the VW brand had missed the target of selling between 80,000 and 100,000 pure electric cars in China. The brand only sold around 77,100 pure electric vehicles, the group a total of 92,700. (os)
