If you lived in New York, in one of those 1,000-square-foot duplex apartments valued at tens of millions of dollars, a nice Christmas present would be a parking space for your new car in the house.
It is not a gift of detail. If you enjoy a brand new luxury car, sports car or SUV this holidays, having a parking space is a must…. And it can cost as much or more than a new car.
A recent study revealed that a parking space has an average price approaching $400,000, depending on whether it’s a regular car or a plug-in hybrid or electric; It is assumed that in this case the quad comes with a charger included. In other words, how much is a good sized and fairly central apartment in Barcelona or Madrid worth. To all this must be added 150 dollars a month for maintenance.
We are talking about automated places. One of those where a robot picks up the car at the entrance to the parking lot and parks it in its place. And it returns it to you at the entrance door of the building, in just two minutes after requesting it; time to go down the elevator.
There are also more expensive ones. It depends on the luxury of the apartment. There are 500,000 and even 600,000 dollars. The record is 750,000. And obviously the monthly maintenance fee will also be in line with the price and number of seats.
Self parking is taking over in New York, but also in other places like Los Angeles. The advantage is that much more space is used and more cars can be parked. It’s important because demand is growing and it’s good business. Automated parking rental can range between $1,000 and $2,000 a month…but it has the advantage that you don’t waste time driving up ramps or maneuvering to get your car into its space.
In the United States there are colossal things. But given these prices, you may as well look for an alternative. A mansion in Connecticut, worth perhaps slightly more, almost $34 million. But with an incalculable advantage: a large parking space for 36 cars, as well as ten bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, several toilets, their own living rooms… and two further guest houses.
Not so long ago, a villa with its own circuit was for sale. An 80-car garage, stables, outdoor and indoor pools, bowling alley, game rooms, over 1,000 square feet, plus two guesthouses; jetty on the lake and enough space for a private golf course – perhaps without reaching 18 holes–. And the price, much cheaper, $26 million and the benefit of Florida sunshine, because it’s close to Tampa.
