Up to 4,000 MFF fans expected in Västerås: “Hard to stop storm” – Fotbollskanalen

Johan Immelgård plays a club manager in VSK:

– We believe there will be between 3,500 and 4,000 MFF supporters. We have sold out the entire field except for the home stand, and we are unable to open that stand to the public.

He believes that the home team, like the organizer, have a “very good plan” for how to handle a possible golden celebration:

– We have very good communication with MFF, their security officer and the police. We have had several meetings and we will have more before the game, says Immelgård to Fotbollskanalen.

– We have a place we call “Plåthallen” which holds 2,000 people. It’s outside the area and there the MFF fans are loaded up. It’s very popular, with food and beer trucks. It’s good for the police too. Everyone gathers there and it is easy to get there and from there.

It is difficult to prevent a typical plan storm in the case of gold for MFF, says Immelgård. He and VSK are aware of that.

– God forbid, because I think we will win. But if I’m wrong, there are preparations for a plane storm. I don’t think our sponsors will do anything. If Malmö win, they will probably go home very quickly because they don’t want to see the celebration.

How do you prevent something from happening?
– We are in very close contact with Malmö regarding their previous involvement in golden games. We will have riot fences, security guards and entertainers on the pitch just before the final mark if MFF directs. Then, in a few minutes, we will set up safety zones with barriers.

Will you be able to prevent a plane storm?

– It’s hard to stop. Let’s say they don’t have permission, but if there are 3,000 people, we can’t have 500 security guards to stop it. And the police won’t go in at all. It is forbidden and against all regulations, but I will not put my employees in any dangerous situation in case it happens.

– If enough people decide to run in, there’s not much we can do.

It’s easy to focus on MFF chasing gold in a game like this. But for VSK, the points at stake are at least as important, in finding a new Allsvenskan contract.

With four rounds remaining, the green and whites are five points up on Halmstad in the negative qualification spot.

– A victory is a victory: absolutely amazing. But it would be even better to catch MFF on the nose when they think they are going to come here and take the SM gold. When we played in Malmö, we were going to win, so anything can happen. For me, victory is what matters and I strongly believe in the boys. They will be tagged as well.

Immelgård adds jokingly:

– It’s more fun for all of Malmö to take the SM gold at home, with many more people on site.

That’s your call to MFF: wash the match?
– Haha, a little bit like that! Although I do not want to win for reasons that are not like sports, laughs Immelgård.
