up to 14 km between Thionville and Metz

An accident involving four cars occurred at the end of the afternoon, around 4:30 p.m., this Tuesday, June 7, on the A31, between the municipalities of Hagondange and Talange in the Thionville-Metz direction. One of the cars ended its race, damaged, in the guardrail of the central reservation while the three other vehicles are immobilized on the hard shoulder. The two right lanes are neutralized. As of 5:00 p.m., the incident was being resolved and tow trucks were removing the damaged vehicles. Dispatched to the scene, firefighters transported two people with minor injuries to Mercy Hospital.

An additional accident was reported, around 5 p.m., in the same direction at the Maizières-lès-Metz exit, involving three vehicles. The repairmen were on site and only the right lane was neutralized, but these two successive accidents led to an 8 km traffic jam. This second accident caused no injuries.

Although the accident was being resolved shortly before 6 p.m., it nevertheless had a strong impact on traffic on the A31 since 6 km of traffic jams were also observed on the A30 between Fameck and Richemont. In total, nearly 14 km of traffic jams were recorded. At 6:30 p.m., traffic began to gradually resume, always slowing down.
