The President Vladimir Zelensky commented petition on permission to leave the country for men of military age. At a briefing on Sunday, May 22, Zelensky said that he did not understand who this initiative was addressed to, and recalled that up to 100 Ukrainian servicemen die at the front every day.

“I don’t fully understand who this petition is for – this petition is for me, or maybe for the parents of those soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine? When today there are from 50 to 100 people [гибнут] in the most difficult direction in the east of our state,” the president said.
Zelensky said that “this petition is not entirely for me,” but “whether I like it or not,” the petition will be considered within the time allotted by law.
Yesterday petition on the lifting of the ban on leaving Ukraine for men aged 18 to 60 has gained more than 25,000 signatures – now it must be considered by Zelensky. The author also calls for a review of the procedure for conscription during mobilization, introducing the priority of conscripting volunteers.
