Up for auction in New York: a rare pink diamond valued at $35 million.

He Eternal Pink, a rare and beautiful vivid purple pink diamond, 10.57 caratswill be the protagonist of the Magnificent Jewels auction organized by Sotheby’s next June 8 in New York with a estimated value of 35 million dollars.

Cushion-cut and without internal blemishes from the Damtshaa mine in Botswana, this gem is considered the quintessence of pink, with incomparable color and brilliance, coming to market as the most valuable purplish-pink diamond ever auctioned.

“Its refined lines combined with the intensity of its color give it a place as one of the most extraordinary gems in the world“, explains Tom Moses, executive vice president and head of laboratory and research at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Monograph.

According to Sotheby’s, it can be compared to “masterpieces of art, much rarer than a Magritte or a Warhol.”

Pink diamonds are the rarest and most sought after gemstones on the global market and a haven for investors.

The auction record for this type of gemstone is held by the CTF Pink Star, sold for $71.2 million in 2017 in Hong Kong.

However, the Williamson Pink Star, sold for $57.7 million also in Hong Kong in 2022, holds the record for the highest price per carat, set at almost $5.2 million.
