UOI: Expands international collaborations – NEOI CONTINENT COMPETITIONS

AGREEMENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF JOHNINE WITH FRENCH CENTERS

The Rector’s recent visit to France, Ms. Anna Batistatou, proved to be particularly productive, as the University of Ioannina’s collaborations with French universities, as well as a number of bodies and personalities from France, are rewarming and expanding, promoting the dynamism and innovation of its study programs University of Ioannina.

More specifically, in the context of the contacts that the Rector had, the enrichment and deepening of relations with the French-speaking Sorbonne Université, which is one of the oldest and most prominent partners in the Erasmus program, and the Université Clermont-Auvergne, which is the privileged partner of the University of Ioannina, in the framework of the European University alliance, with which the University is linked by a Cooperation Protocol, in addition to the existing bilateral Erasmus agreements.

Joint research projects

During the meetings and collaborations held by Mrs. Anna Batistatou, who was accompanied by faculty members of the University of Ioannina, cooperation was expanded, regarding the increase in the number of mobile students, the launch of joint research programs, the investigation of the formation of joint programs postgraduate studies, but also the joint management of student internships.

Link to featured philosophical research centers

It is worth mentioning that on 1the In November, Ms. Anca Vasiliu, an internationally renowned philosopher, awarded with the Grand Prix de Philosophie of the French Academy and the Cross of the Legion of Honor, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of the Department of Philosophy of the University of Ioannina. This announcement contributes to the inauguration of a scientific collaboration, which began three decades ago, when in her first academic steps Mrs. Vasiliu moved from the University of Bucharest to the University of Ioannina as a postgraduate student. The result is the connection of the Faculty of Philosophy with one of the most prominent centers of philosophical research internationally. On the occasion of this specific announcement, but also given that the University of Ioannina cooperates with the French Consulate in Thessaloniki, the French Consul General in Thessaloniki, Mr. Jean-Luc Lavaud, accompanied by the educational attache, Mrs. Carole Perretto, visited the Rectorate. The meeting with the Rector was held in a particularly warm atmosphere.

Organization of a French-language postgraduate program

An important development is also the launch of two double doctoral theses in collaboration with Francophone Institutions, in the Department of Music Studies with the Université Clermont-Auvergne, and in the Department of Physics with the Université de Louvain. In addition, a joint research program was launched with the French National Research Foundation – CNRS (funding Hubert Curien Partnerships). In addition and regarding the synergy with the Léon Robin Center of Philosophy of the Sorbonne, it was decided to organize a conference on ancient and medieval philosophy within 2024, but also to organize a French-language postgraduate study program.

New research pilot programs

Among the results of the visit is the organization of three BIP (Blended Intensive Program) pilot programs in tripartite collaboration with the Université Clermont-Auvergne and the Ovidius University of Constanta, while the participation of the students of the University of Ioannina in the process continues steadily and dynamically of the Goncourt Literary Prize of Greece.

Cooperation with the French department of the European Press Group

Finally, last year actions were carried out in collaboration with the French Section of the European Press Club (Club de la Presse Européenne, Paris), in the context of the 9u International Summer University which took place last July at the Special Penitentiary of Neo Avlonas, and in which the Rector attended and spoke. The collaboration with the Club de la Presse Européenne of Paris contributes to the achievement of the extroversion of the University of Ioannina at the level of communication, but also its connection with European means of communication and information.

As stated by the Rector, Mrs. Anna Batistatou, the benefits of the specific visit and contacts in France as well as a series of initiatives and meetings are manifold important for the University of Ioannina: “It is our strategic priority to take advantage of all the opportunities to participate in international networks that bring strategic alliances, additional resources, expansion of research, dissemination of results and visibility of the achievements of each academic unit. First of all, the choices of students for Erasmus travel for the purpose of studies or internships are increasing, while the increase in the number of mobile students is now a fact. The synergies concerning the double doctorates, the double Masters, Erasmus Mundus, and the Blended Intensive Programs promote the dynamism and innovation of the study programs of the University of Ioannina. In addition, it is possible to claim targeted research grants from Campus France and the Agence Universitaire de Francophonie, as well as the promotion of multilingualism, which is a fundamental European educational policy.
