Few people know the actress’s real middle name.
Most fans know the queen of sarcasm and one of the brightest actresses of the Soviet Union as Faina Georgievna Ranevskaya. This name is familiar to almost everyone. There is hardly a person who does not remember at least one of the artist’s biting quotes.
However, the future star was born with a different patronymic and surname. Initially her name was Faina Girshevna Feldman. The actress’s parents were wealthy Jews, but they did not favor their daughter too much. A girl with a specific appearance was considered not pretty enough and for some reason stupid.
After the revolution, the Feldman family left Russia, but Faina remained. Since her relationship with her family was not going well for obvious reasons, the actress decided to change her last and patronymic names. With a new name, she became famous for her bright roles in cinema and theater, as well as for her sparkling statements, which, although caustic, always hit the target.
