Our city is full of cultural attractions that do not receive much publicity, despite the high quality of their offerings and the enormous importance they have.
One of those secrets are Treasures of the New York City Public Libraryin Manhattan, which has a new exhibition this year.
This is the Polonsky Exhibition, with hundreds of objects taken from the library’s centuries-old archives, and many of them will be shown to the public for the first time.
In total there are more than 250 unique objects of their kind, of enormous historical and cultural importance. Among them stands out the only known letter from Admiral Christopher Columbus announcing the discovery of new lands to King Ferdinand the Catholic.
Also the first copy of the Guttenberg Bible brought to the new continent.
The same as a handwritten copy of the Declaration of Independence of the United States, owned by Thomas Jefferson, one of the founding fathers of the nation.
The Polonsky Exhibition of the treasures of the New York City Public Library will be held at the library’s headquarters, Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street, in Midtown Manhattan.
It starts on September 24 and includes more than 4 thousand years of history and the best of all is that it will be completely free.
The easiest and fastest way to get there is using public transportation. You can take the B, D, F, M trains to the 42nd Street/Bryant Park station. And the 4, 5, 6, 7 trains to the 42nd Street/Grand Central station.
The Polonsky Exhibition of the treasures of the New York City Public Library is a cultural attraction that you cannot miss, to enjoy alone, with your family or your friends in Your Free Time.
