Former English model and it-girl, Suki Waterhouse became an accomplished artist in less than two years. After a few secondary roles in the cinema (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies in 2016 et A rainy day in New York in 2019), it will be released in May 2022, I Can’t Let Go, a moving first album which crosses grunge, dream pop and indie rock.

A year later, we find her in the series Daisy Jones & The Six (Amazon Prime), an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, which tells the dazzling success and fall of a fictional rock group from the 70s. A few days ago, on the occasion of the Fashion Week spring-summer 2024 in Paris, Number has met Suki Waterhouseinvited to the event HAUS of Dreamers de Golden Goose.

L’interview mode de Suki Waterhouse

Number: Can you describe your outfit for the Golden Goose party?

Suki Waterhouse : I chose to create a really elegant look by combining a classic suit from home Golden Goose to which I added my own personal touch. In particular, I opted for a magnificent top decorated with pearls, which I matched with my own jewelry.

What does fashion mean to you?

In my eyes, fashion is above all a form of exceptional artistic expression. It’s a universe where talented creators with varied styles can flourish. There are simply no limits to talent, whether in hair, makeup, design or production. It takes a multitude of people with diverse skills to bring fantastic creations to life. For me, fashion is a true art form.

Is there a fashion icon or person who particularly inspires you?

I greatly admire the French actress and singer Lou Doillon, who is without a doubt one of my greatest sources of inspiration. She knows what a fan I am and that I really appreciate her music.

What is your very first fashion-related memory?

My very first fashion memory probably dates back to my childhood, when I played with a dress-up box. I could slip into the shoes of different people, whether it was a princess, a witch, a heroine or a villain. This desire to experiment and play with clothes never really left me, and I continue to do so in the way I dress today.

What fashion moment has had the biggest impact on you?

Among the unforgettable memories I have accumulated are the moments where I had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned creators. However, if I had to choose one memorable moment par excellence, it would definitely be my invitations to the Met Gala. Getting ready for this event is a grand experience, almost comparable to getting ready for a wedding.

How many times have you attended the Met Gala?

I was lucky enough to attend this year, and then about nine years ago, I think. However, these two experiences were really different. Be invited for the Met Gala in honor of Karl Lagerfeld and wear a dress Fendi that he designed himself was simply incredible. As soon as Kim [ Kim Jones, le directeur artistique de Fendi, ndlr]showed it to me, I immediately loved this piece.

A singer and actress with 60’s and 70’s style

What is your everyday style?

On a daily basis, I wear fairly simple outfits. Right now I’m really obsessed with these huge corduroy pants which I found in a vintage store in London called Lover’s Lane. You should definitely go there if you are in London. These are really voluminous pants, in a style 90’s that I wear with a simple tank top and an suede jacket that I have.

And what look for a special event or a red carpet?

For a special event, I feel pretty confident and comfortable in looks from years ago.inspiration 60’s et 70’s. That’s usually where I like to go. I want to have big hair, heavy makeup, and wear a look that looks like it’s straight from that era. This is the style I feel good in.

Is there an item of clothing or an accessory that you would like to wear but don’t dare?

Yes, probably. I generally don’t wear very short dresses or some A-line flared dresses. But I think it’s more a question of what suits me. Sometimes I surprise myself by opting for a different style, but mostly I feel like I know what looks good on me now. And with just a glance, I can judge if an outfit will suit me.
