Unveiling the Dialogue: The VAR Referees and the Disallowed Goal for Liverpool against Tottenham

What are the details of the dialogue between the main referee and the VAR referees regarding the disallowed goal for Liverpool against Tottenham?

The English Football Association unveiled a video of the conversation that took place between the main referee of the match between Tottenham and Liverpool last Saturday in the seventh round of the Premier League, which resulted in exciting details.

The match referee canceled Liverpool’s lead goal, which was scored by Luis Diaz, after returning to video technology, due to offside.

But the replay showed that there was no violation, which prompted the Reds to formally object and request a recording of the match, especially since Tottenham won the match by two goals to one and inflicted on the Merseyside team its first loss in the league this season.

The English Federation published a video clip of the dialogue that took place between the main referee, Simon Hooper, with the video referee team, namely Darren England and his assistant Dan Cook, along with the fourth referee, Michael Oliver.

The conversation revealed that the video assistant referee confirmed that there was no violation at first between Mohamed Salah and De Van, and then the focus was on the offside shot.

After a discussion between the video referee and the technical official to choose the best angle and determine the lines, the video referee informed that the shot was offside.

But Dan Cook quickly backed off and told the video referee that there had been a foul and that the ball was not offside at all.

The technical official tried to stop the match and asked the fourth official to do so, but the game continued on the basis of offside, and the goal could not be awarded.

It is worth noting that the match witnessed two expulsions against Liverpool, including Kurt Jones and Diogo Jota.
