As a reporter for the Ministry of Culture, there are some questions I often hear. “Do you like this movie?” “Have you met any celebrities? Who is the most handsome?” etc. I answer these questions relatively lightheartedly, but I need to think about answering “What is OTT fun these days?” I tend to watch ‘OTT in the past’ more than ‘OTT these days’. Even though I was exploring new content for the ‘Homage’ corner, when I was resting, I watched American sitcoms that were a bit out of date. Introducing my ‘favorite’, who watched the entire season over 10 times. Aired on FOX and NBC <브루클린 나인나인(브나나)>are you. You can watch the entire season on Netflix.
Set in Brooklyn, New York, the main characters of the drama are detectives working in the 99th Precinct. There is no well-crafted reasoning or action-packed action. The protagonists sometimes investigate cases in eccentric ways, and often fight each other. Jake (Andy Samberg) is at the center of it all. Jake is good at catching criminals, but he has not achieved ‘ego growth’.
Attached below is a video that highlights the way Jake handles crime. <브나나>You may have seen the video below at least once. A murder has taken place, and the woman at the scene states that she did not see the killer’s face, but she heard him sing. It’s ‘I want it that way’ by the Back Street Boys, and at Jake’s direction, the suspects <히든 싱어>Sing a song in turn. Enthralled by the chorus of suspects, Jake momentarily forgets that he is dealing with a brutal murderer. Although he eventually catches the culprit.

Please refer to it if you need subtitles.
It is full of detectives with strong personalities, including Jake. Amy (Melissa Fumero), who wants to be the youngest chief, is weak in her authority and obsessed with her papers. Jake’s best friend, Charles Boyle (Joe Law Truglio), is athletic and has no self-esteem. Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) is secretive and violent. Her class president, Terry (Terry Crews), is seemingly invincible, but ever since she gave birth to her twin daughters, she’s afraid to go out on the field. The drama begins when Raymond Holt (Andre Brower), a stiff new chief, takes office in the 99th precinct where they work. Her chief assistant Gina (Chelsea Penetti) asks her co-workers. “Don’t you feel a bit gay, the new chief?”
In reality, Raymond is out gay. Having come out early in the 1990s, he was persecuted by the gang throughout. The organization that treated him with cold rice suddenly wanted to show that there was a gay police officer in a high-ranking position as the times changed, and eventually appointed him to the chief. As New York’s first black (out) gay and lesbian chief, Raymond doesn’t want to miss the opportunity he’s been dreaming of all his life. To him who wants to make his precinct the best police station, Precinct 99 just looks like a mess. And in the middle of it all is Jake, the prankster. He starts to discipline Jake. However, it remains to be seen whether the 99th precinct will be ‘Raymondized’, or whether Raymond will be ’99th’.
Chief Raymond Holt (Andre Brower) and Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) eventually become best friends. Provided by Netflix.
Like any sitcom <브나나>wins with the charm of the character. Unlike dramas where actors are often replaced as the season progresses, the main character hardly changes until season 8, which is also an advantage of this drama. Thanks to this, I feel very attached to the main characters who have unexpected pasts and deep concerns.
As it was first aired in 2013, the humor code of the first season, which tries to be funny with slapstick, looks somewhat childish in the eyes of viewers in the 2020s. Uncomfortable laughter gradually disappears. You can laugh more coolly as the arrow of satire is directed at society and organizations. The drama is against racism practiced by the police, rampant sexual violence against power, and more. Together with him, the problems faced in life as friends, lovers, and family, and the dilemmas faced by the main characters in it, are also carefully pointed out. The diversity of the main characters is a stepping stone to creating a lot of stories. Of the seven main characters, two are black and two are Hispanic. Three are female and two are sexual minorities.
In 2020, the drama faces a huge event. In Minnesota, a black man, George Floyd, is killed by a white police officer, Derek Chauvin. As a result of this incident, the movement of citizens who resisted the racist behavior of the police intensified. With cute and harmless cops as the main characters <브나나>The city could not escape the criticism of ‘Copaganda’, which glorifies the police. Copaganda is a portmanteau of police (cop) and propaganda (propaganda).
cleverly pointed out the problems of the US police <브나나>But in the end, we decided to end season 8. All the episodes of season 8 that were scheduled to be aired were discarded, and a new script was decided to reflect the topography of the discussion surrounding the police at the time. Terry Cruz, who played Captain Terry, was an NBC entertainment program at the time. <액세스 할리우드>“We talked about what is happening in this country and the resulting change in consciousness,” and said, “It’s like starting again.” In the first episode of Season 8 written like that, one of the detectives leaves the office. “I can’t stand to see what my co-workers do to people who look like me,” he said.
The drama does its best even in the sudden farewell. In the meantime, the main characters passionately break up against the backdrop of passionately deceiving each other, arguing and reconciling, and overdoing it. The reason why this drama can be sent with a sense of regret is because the series did not avoid controversy and showed the viewers the correct answer they gave with perseverance.
<새터데이 나이트 라이브(SNL)> <더 오피스> <굿플레이스> Directed by star producer Michael Schur. It ended with 8 seasons, and each season consists of 10 to 23 episodes of around 21 minutes.
‘Saduyongmi’ Jisoo ★★★★★ The beginning was just ‘feeling’, but the end would be a ‘huge smile’
‘Rice Friend’ Jisoo ★★★★★ Around 21 minutes per episode, it’s nice to see while eating
Detectives of various races, including Jews, blacks, and Hispanics, work in the 99th precinct. Pictured is Hispanic detectives Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) and Amy (Melissa Fumero). Beatriz originally applied for the role of Amy, and when she heard that Fumero had been cast, she was saddened because she thought there would be no way there would be two “Hispanic women” in the role. However, the production team cast Beatrice for the role of Rosa. Provided by Netflix.
