The trailer that left everyone in awe

The E3 event in the summer of 2005 was something special. There had been talk and talk about the Dutch game group Guerilla Games planning something unusual to present on the podium. Once the scene was underway, the Dutchman dropped the bomb. In a two-minute long trailer, a movie clip was shown that literally put the audience to bed, which is Killzone 2. Different big battles with cool graphics and artificial intelligence under drums and fanfares.

The game was to be exclusive to Playstation which was a year ahead of its release. Now the fair participants saw what the console was capable of. However, the disappointment became apparent when it was later revealed that the trailer was pre-rendered in a computer and was therefore not part of the game’s gameplay. But then and there, Guerilla Games set the tone for their upcoming creation.

Killzone 2 will see the light of day

With E3 over, the Dutch team went back to the drawing board and tinkered with the massive project that was Killzone 2. Four years later, it was finally time to launch. At the end of February 2009, the game was sent to an enthusiastic public that was thoroughly pumped for the upcoming adventure. The first thing that struck me was the dirty “view” of the atmosphere and environment that the game wanted to convey. The industrial planet Helghan was not a pleasant place to live and its inhabitants had no angels to contend with. The battles were extremely intense and showed the impact that surrounded them. Bullets smashed into walls, explosions ricocheted off bodies and screamed each other as machine gun bullets bounced around the corridors.

But what really impressed me were the extremely nice graphics that knocked me and several other players off their seats. To “be” a Playstation 3 game, the bar was set unusually high. Every muscle of the console worked at full speed to paint a world beyond all scope and horizon. Even today, those below feel that Killzone 2 could be released for today’s generation of consoles. It is a feast in itself for the eyes to see the thunder blowing up in the sky of Helghan.

As expected, Killzone 2 was well received by the general gaming press and critics who praised the game for its features – but not the slow controls, the awkward story and the rather frustrating difficulty, especially in the second half of the game. game Killzone 2 is still one of those games from that era that still garners a lot of attention, some fifteen years after its release. There is great hope that Guerilla Games will make a remake / remake of the game (or the first in the series) or just bet on Killzone 5. Those who live will see as the saying goes.
