Unvaccinated, Tax | The Canadian province imposes its own tax on the unvaccinated

The Canadian province of Quebec, which is trying to control the prevalence of the omicron variant, is announcing a new tax aimed at unvaccinated residents.

The new health tax will be in place in the coming weeks.

– We are working on a scheme for adults who refuse to be vaccinated, because they constitute a financial burden for all the inhabitants of Quebec, says the province’s Prime Minister François Legault.

10 percent of the province’s residents have not yet received a single dose of vaccine. They should not cause damage to the other 90 percent who have been vaccinated, says Legault.

He points out that the unvaccinated proportion makes up 50 per cent of coronary vaccinated people who need intensive care.

People who have not been vaccinated for medical reasons will be exempt from the new tax, Legault states.
