If you haven’t yet managed to let go of summer, you have reason to breathe easy. This week, temperatures may reach 20 degrees in several places in the country.
On-duty meteorologist Per Egil Haga explains why.
– We have unusually warm air masses here now. This is because we have a transport of air from southern latitudes, and is linked to a lot of low pressure activity in the Atlantic Ocean, he says.
The air masses will hit southern Norway tomorrow, and if the cloud cover opens, it could be summery for many Norwegians.
– It starts with gray weather and rain showers, but when we get a little out into the day it seems that the cloud cover will dissolve and that there will be a good deal of sun. This applies to both Southern Norway and southern parts of Eastern Norway, says Haga.

– Someone has to pay the price
As you know, the medal comes with a back.
Where people in Southern and Eastern Norway can have a sugary déjà vu for the summer, Haga says that in Western Norway it will start with rain, before it becomes sunny – but not quite as much as in Eastern Norway.
This rainy weather will move northwards, and will affect north-western parts of the country and central Norway throughout the day. If you live south of the Trondheimsfjord, you can still get your share of sun, says the state meteorologist.
We follow the weather further up, towards Nordland, Troms and Finnmark.
We have sent out a yellow warning of torrential rain for parts of Vestland county, Rogaland and Agder ⚠️ The heaviest rain showers are expected from Wednesday morning to late Wednesday morning, and there may be over 20 mm in 1 hour 💦 There will be large variations in intensity and crowd. pic.twitter.com/31w0O0X1JR

According to Haga, there is a low pressure in the far north of the country, which means that there will be a good deal of wind.
– The rainfall area from the south enters Nordland beyond the latter part of the day. It won’t get to Troms, so they escape it, says Haga, who sums up tomorrow’s weather simply:
– When someone gets good weather, someone else has to pay the price with slightly worse weather.
Should you be one of those who get bad weather tomorrow, you can consider taking the trip to southern Norway this weekend.
– It looks like you don’t need to put away your shorts yet. If we look beyond the week, the weather will be quite summery towards the weekend in southern Norway.
