A surprising lesser known symptom of diabetes is thrush.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — High blood sugar can sneak up on your body without any obvious symptoms. For that, it is important to be aware of each type of diabetes.
There are two main types of diabetes namely: type 1 diabetes and type 2. In type 1 diabetes, the system immune attack and destroy cells that produce insulin so you can’t produce it at all. Whereas in type 2 diabetes, the body does not produce enough insulin, or in other words the body’s cells do not react to insulin.
Reported on the page My London on Wednesday (26/1/2022), type 1 diabetes is not associated with age or being overweight. According to the Diabetes UK agency, for starters, type 1 affects 8 percent of all people with diabetes. Whereas type 2 diabetes affect about 90 percent.
Type 1 and type 2 diabetes have the same symptoms. Low energy and fatigue are the main symptoms. However, it is important to note that fatigue can have many causes, such as Celiac disease, anemia, and anxiety.
A surprising lesser known symptom of diabetes is thrush. Thrush is more common in diabetics because the high sugar content creates the right conditions for yeast to grow.
Thrush is a common fungal infection that affects both men and women. Usually, this is harmless, but it can be uncomfortable and keep coming back.
Other signs of diabetes include frequent toileting, especially at night, persistent thirst, drastic weight loss without exercise, itching or ulcer on the genitals, and sores that take longer to heal and blurred vision.
