Two NYPD officers had their official firearms stolen from checked luggage on a plane while traveling off-duty to Atlanta.
According to police sources, the two officers from the 44th precinct in the Bronx flew from New York’s JFK airport to Atlanta. on a jetblue flight Thursday.
They had placed their firearms — two 9mm pistols — safely packed with their luggage, in accordance with federal Customs and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations.
They boarded the plane that was scheduled to leave around 2 pm Thursday. But the flight was delayed and it finally arrived in Atlanta at 8 pm, the sources said.
