Unusual: Mother’s Day is lived on the sidewalk: assaulted florists – News Geneva: Geneva news

In couples that containment has not separated, they go in pairs: mother and stepmother. We celebrate one, without forgetting the other, this Sunday, May 10 in Switzerland. To see the queues that formed throughout the day on Saturday in front of the flower shops in the square, we are convinced that they will be well celebrated.

Ten, twelve, fifteen people on the sidewalk passing in front of the sign. Here too, adhesive tapes on the ground, color marking every two meters, just to discipline these ideal sons and sons-in-law who thought they would settle the bill in five minutes like every year, before leaving with their bouquet of roses or peonies, the basics in this occasional floral offer.

The peony must be earned. The rose also, even when it is unique. Everywhere, we doubled the workforce, reinforced the rear, prepared the boots with seasonal flowers, after having recorded, for several days already, a spectacular increase in orders by internet.

The delivery man running, his bouquet in his hand, on the pictogram of the Fleurop company, has not slept since the middle of the week. To tell the truth, his marathon started with confinement and, since then, he hasn’t stopped inviting himself to beautiful recluses, deans of buildings, adored neighbors, adopted mothers or just mothers.

The most far-sighted have therefore taken the lead. They spray their little mini-meadow of flowers, bought before everyone else, praying that it will last until Sunday. They watch the white orchid and the lily watching the tail, still it, lie down from the balcony.

Leaving from rue des Délices, corner rue des Charmilles, we only see her, this Saturday afternoon. She shades the hair salon in a friendly shade. The clients are mostly young. They will be even more numerous in Sunday version.

The signs open early, from 8 a.m. Woe to the latecomers. They may have to fall back on pralines, truffles and kirsch sticks. These are found in newsstands, by the piece or in boxes, next to the stock of carambars.

Finally, note that Mother’s Day, which set out to break records this year in the expression of filial fervor, was not forgotten this weekend, during the distribution of food aid at the Vernets ice rink. In the poor man’s packages, a generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous slipped a pretty flower for the women who presented themselves. They were in the majority, mothers for the most part and with heroic patience.
