Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
A total of 730 health workers in the city Semarang, Central Java, infected with the corona virus (Covid-19) despite having received an injection vaccine. Transmission occurred during the period February-June 2021.
The Head of the Semarang City Health Office, Abdul Hakam, said that this figure was small when compared to all health workers in the city of Semarang, which amounted to about 33 thousand people.
“There are around 730 health workers who have been exposed, from February to June. All have been vaccinated, can, because in the beginning it was a vaccine for medical and health workers. When compared to all health workers who numbered 33 thousand, yes, the number 730 is small, yes, in a period of 5 months,” said Hakam, some time ago.
The highest transmission to health workers themselves occurred in June. This month, Covid-19 cases in a number of areas experienced a high spike, especially after the spike that occurred in Kudus.
“We are also quite concerned, because the spike in Kudus has triggered referral patients to enter Semarang, plus cases in the city have also increased, of course, making a lot of health workers tired,” Hakam explained.
Hakam continued, one hospital can accept 50-80 new Covid-19 patients and require treatment.
Currently, there are 2,300 active cases of Covid-19 in Semarang who are undergoing treatment. As many as 1,700 of them are residents of Semarang, while the rest are from outside Semarang.
The implementation of PPKM which was carried out through the Mayor’s Regulation (Perwali) from June 22 to July 2, 2021 was not effective in reducing the number of cases.
With the implementation of the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM, Hakam hopes that the decline in Covid-19 cases in Semarang will decrease significantly.
