Lecturer of the Faculty of Economics, Sriwijaya University (Unsri), South Sumatra, RG, reported by three female students related to the alleged case sexual harassment via WhatsApp, was named a suspect.
RG today, Friday (10/12), was summoned for questioning for the first time since this case went from an investigation stage to an investigation.
“Today RG fulfilled the investigator’s summons for examination and today he is also being questioned as a suspect,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation at the South Sumatra Police, Commissioner Hisar Siallagan, in his statement, Friday (10/12).
RG also became the second Unsri lecturer to be named a suspect in a sexual harassment case in the past month after the ARA Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) lecturer was named a suspect on Monday (6/12).
Hisar also confirmed that the case has gone from investigation to investigation.
Investigators of the Sub-Directorate IV/Adolescents, Children, Women (Renakta) of the South Sumatra Police Ditreskrimum, he said, have also examined the complainants by meeting them directly.
“Investigators have come to them for questioning,” he said.
Previously, RG, who was accompanied by his legal counsel, arrived at the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Police, Friday (10/12) at 09.50 WIB, to be examined intensively regarding the harassment report.
“There are 13 question points, all related to work problems, that’s all. We’ll continue later [pemeriksaan] This is an isoma break,” said RG’s Legal Advisor, Gandi Arius, during the examination break.
RG was reported by three female students with the initials F, C, and D for allegedly sexually harassing them through text messages.
He has previously denied any abuse. He also admitted that the phone number to send messages containing sexual harassment was not his number.
“That’s not my number. I’m just being formal like a lecturer. I have a lot of students under my guidance. I only know F and C, they are my students who are threatened with more than five years of college, while D doesn’t know,” said R in Palembang, Wednesday (8/8). 12).
Nevertheless, the Unsri Rectorate has disabled RG from his position as Head of the Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics, Unsri, Bukit Besar campus, Palembang.
The decision to deactivate was stated in the rector’s letter number 452/UN9/SK.BUK.KP/2021 which was issued on Tuesday (7/12). In addition, he was relieved of his duties as a lecturer until the case was resolved.
