Man convicted of murdering student
The man had already been convicted 25 years ago for the murder of a twelve-year-old schoolgirl by the regional court in Tübingen. Witnesses had seen the tour guide on the Rhine dike – accompanied by a man. The investigators suspected at the time that it could have been her later killer, who was already threatening the woman with a knife. All attempts to find it failed at the time. What is known about the alleged perpetrator?
31 years later, a 63-year-old suspect had been identified, the authorities announced on Tuesday. The man is already in prison for another felony. Charges have now also been brought against him for the 1992 murder, so he is likely to face trial again in the near future. He has so far remained silent about the new allegations, said the court spokeswoman on request.
It was later proven that he was murdered
After the murder in Bad Liebenzell in 1995, the mechanic was initially only convicted of manslaughter. Only in a retrial three years later did the judges assume sexual motives and sentenced him to life imprisonment for murder. The judgment was later confirmed by the Federal Court of Justice. The man had denied the crime.

For several years, retired murder investigators in North Rhine-Westphalia have been digging into the files of older murder cases that have not yet been solved. For this purpose, the special organizational structure “Cold Case” was founded in the State Criminal Police Office.
