The murders of Martin Bojanov and Aleksey Petrov may or may not be related,” explained Boyko Naydenov – former director of the National Investigation Service and former deputy chief prosecutor.

“Almost a month after the murder of Martin Bojanov – the Notary, it is not known how far it has come at all, since it is still a man who was killed in a brutal way in the center of Sofia. Another significant murder – that of Alexey Petrov, which happened before several months, is also somehow involved in Bojanov’s activities. These two cases may or may not be related, but we still have no answer,” commented Naydenov.

According to him, another problem is what came out as testimony that there is a problem in the judiciary.

“There was some unregulated pressure from some groups on members of the judiciary. This moment, this problem has also not been solved and we see that commissions are being created, work is allegedly being done on this, but in the end it is forgotten that the only body in the country, the one that could solve this problem is the prosecutor’s office, which is part of the judiciary.”

“In third place is the political element, as politicians face the two lower problems, because this is part of their work,” Naydenov believes. He also commented on the investigation of accuser number 1 and his deputies related to the “Eight Dwarfs” affair: “Hypothetically, anyone could obstruct an investigation and anyone could solve an investigation. At the moment, we can only speculate whether and why Borislav Sarafov, who is currently acting as the Attorney General could also explain and I guess he’s not one to go out of his way to obstruct an investigation. But at the end of the day we’re talking about a legal basis. I can’t see him obstructing such an investigation, if there are collected facts and evidence,” he told BNT.

Alexey Petrov, who was shot in August, was discussed at the third meeting of the parliamentary committee on the activities of Martin Bojanov-Notary. On Thursday, Ivayla Bakalova, who revealed the Notary with the help of the Anti-Corruption Fund in June 2021, and her husband Veselin Denkov were heard. He was in custody for 9 months, and Bojanov made an offer of 100,000 euros for his release.

Veselin Denkov told the deputies about his saga with justice since 2016, when he went from being a witness in a money laundering case to being accused in the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office. Even then, the offers to him to pay began. One of the people who sought a meeting with him is Alexey Petrov, Denkov told the deputies. He told the story in an interview for “24 Chasa” in November.

Petrov sought the meeting and advised him to pay so that he would not be in detention like him. Denkov refused again. “My impression was that Petrov contacted the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office. I don’t think he was related to the Notary. He said he was coming in a friendly manner, but I had only seen him once before. At the time of this meeting, I did not know about the existence of Martin Bojanov” , explained Denkov.
