However, when looking at the criminal’s actions captured on CCTV, there are several things that are unclear.
He entered the password for the front door and suddenly disappeared, holding only the safe, as if he had come to retrieve something he needed, without even touching other valuable items such as bags.
The police began an investigation, but were unable to reveal the identity of the man in the CCTV, leaving it as an unsolved case.
Ahead of the 4th anniversary of the late Goo Hara’s death, Mbig News worked with profiler Bae Sang-hoon and others to track down the identity of the culprit.

A man appears at the late Goo Hara’s Cheongdam-dong home.
A man looks around on the fence and looks straight at the camera as if he found CCTV.
He is wearing a hat without a brim, glasses and a mask to cover his face, and he is wearing gloves on his hands.
The man who later disappeared from CCTV footage was captured in the yard 15 minutes later.
I head to the front door with a low posture and enter the password as if it were my own home.
When the door doesn’t open, I look at it carefully as if I’m a little confused, and then turn back to the way I first came in.
Afterwards, the man climbed the wall, entered the house through the second-floor veranda, stole Goo Hara’s safe, which was estimated to be approximately 30 centimeters long, and ran away.
#What is the identity of the criminal?
Goo Hara’s acquaintances agree that the culprit is an unknown person.
The safe was stolen around midnight on the 14th.
It was on the 13th that Goo Hara’s older brother completed his 49th year of life and went back to his home.
It is said that he committed the crime as if he was waiting for the house to be empty.
The fact that the criminal naturally entered the front door code and attempted to break in also increases the possibility that the criminal was a known criminal.

Another basis is that he knew the internal structure of the house intimately.
The utility room connected to the second-floor veranda that the criminal broke into leads to a wardrobe where the safe was stored, but it is difficult for outsiders to see this structure.

″It accurately recognizes the shortest path to the safe and moves very quickly. If it’s someone you don’t know, you have to go and search everything.”
#What is the criminal’s real purpose?
There is another strange thing.
There were expensive bags and clothes in Goo Hara’s closet where the safe was located, but the criminal only stole the safe without touching any of the other expensive items.
This raises questions that it may not have been a simple theft aimed at money.

″It is said that Goo Hara usually stored valuable items such as necklaces and earrings in the safe, as well as contracts she signed while investing, and cell phones she used in the past. Things like cell phones are very important things. Old cell phones also contain a lot of your personal information.”
What was the item the criminal was really trying to steal?

″I wonder if there is something more important in there (the safe) besides this (precious metals). I also think that there is something very important in it that only Goo Hara and her acquaintances know.”
#What are the results of the police investigation?
This case was investigated for over 9 months, but the police were ultimately unable to identify the man in the CCTV footage.
If someone was close to Goo Hara and knew the entrance code and the structure of the house, people around her might recognize her. However, people around her, including Goo’s family and acquaintances, say that no one comes to mind when they see the suspect in the CCTV footage.
Therefore, there is a possibility that the culprit may be a third person who was instigated by an acquaintance who knew Mr. Goo well.

″He is a person who knows Goo Hara, or at least was instigated by someone who is acquainted with Goo Hara, and he committed the crime after fully knowing how to move (at the time of the crime), so we believe he is clearly involved.″

Profiler Bae Sang-hoon, who analyzed the CCTV footage, thought that the criminal was not a professional thief and was likely engaged in a job that did not require much physical activity, considering the criminal’s clothing and the break-in process.

″It doesn’t seem like he is a professional thief or has any experience in theft. The clothes you wear also have a glow-in-the-dark glow, but if you’re a professional, you shouldn’t do that. People notice it right away. He doesn’t look like a very big person, but his lower body is a bit weak. I have a feeling he might be more of a non-physical laborer than a manual worker.″
Additionally, it was analyzed that the culprit was someone who had been to Goo Hara’s house for the first time, and that he may have been instigated by Goo’s closest associates.

″(If this is a place the criminal has been to), there would be no reason to enter so cautiously. If you know where you want to go, just keep going (take the shortest route)… But now the criminal (movement line) goes this way and then goes like this. (The culprit) must have been here for the first time.″
The culprits were two people, a teacher and a thief. It was presumed that the teacher had a very urgent need to steal the safe.

″If there are more than three (criminals), there is no reason to let one person in (to the house). You can let two people in. If you look at it as a form of taking only what you need without touching anything else in order to speed it up, it would be a theft by someone who really urgently needs something in the safe.”
So what did you need to bring so quickly?

″It won’t be for financial purposes. Because you take it out thinking there is something in the safe, it may be empty inside. (Simple) If you are a thief, you will naturally check other things as well. Therefore, the things that are actually meaningful are cell phones and documents.″
Professor Bae believed there was a high possibility that it was a crime targeting mobile phones.

″In fact, in the case of mobile phones, forensics is done even in private sector these days. Even if you delete old photos and videos, they remain. If it’s Goo Hara’s second phone or any other private phone that was used personally, it was ordered by someone who knew that it was important. Something like, “Bring that.”
According to Professor Bae’s profiling, the culprits are two people, a teacher and an executioner, and the teacher is a close associate of Mr. Koo and it is highly likely that he targeted Mr. Koo’s cell phone in the safe.
#Things Goo Hara left behind
The unfortunate death of a female singer in her 20s who shone brightly on a splendid stage.
During my lifetime, I was a victim of dating violence and suffered from malicious comments.
After the tragic death, the biological mother appeared 20 years later and claimed the right to inherit the inheritance.

″We weren’t in regular contact or anything like that, but the biological mother contacted me and said we should divide Hara’s inheritance in half. I think he was around 49 years old, about a month after the funeral.”
This ignited public opinion to enact the ‘Goo Hara Act’, which prevented parents who failed to fulfill their duty of support from inheriting the property of their deceased children.
