Warming brings spring storms

After the short cooling that brought back the feeling of March weather, in the coming days the dominant air masses will be from the Mediterranean. Temperatures will slowly rise and catch up to normal mid-May levels.

Until the end of the working week – Thursday and Friday, the cloudiness will be variable with more breaks in the eastern half of the country and, accordingly, more significant cloudiness in the west. It is there during both days that there will be light rains, more irrigating at night. The eastern wind will have moderate gusts, and the daytime temperatures will be in the range of 13 to 18-19 degrees.

The weekends will be noticeably warmer. On Saturday morning temperatures will be from 5 to 10 degrees, in the afternoon – between 17 and 22 degrees. On Sunday – it will be a degree or two warmer everywhere. On the first day off, more cloud breaks and light, short-lived afternoon showers are expected at separate points around the mountains of Western Bulgaria. On Sunday, however, an atmospheric disturbance will pass with precipitation in more places, but again more significant in the western half of Bulgaria.

Until May 20, the weather will remain unstable, but warm with daytime temperatures around and above 25 degrees, in the traditionally cooler areas – around and slightly above 20. During the period, the dynamics in the Mediterranean will be high, and a cold atmospheric front will pass over the Balkans. Temperatures will not drop dramatically, but there will be local intense afternoon showers with thunder and hail.
