CÓRDOBA – Serbian footballer Dragiša Gudelj collapsed in Saturday’s match of the third highest Spanish competition between Córdoba and Racing Ferrol. The 25-year-old defender suffered a cardiac arrest in the 11th minute, and doctors performed his resuscitation right on the pitch.
Gudelj collapsed at 1:1. Rescuers managed to revive him and transfer him to a hospital in Córdoba. The club later said that Gudelj is in a stable condition and undergoing tests in the intensive care unit.
At the same time, the club informed that the twenty-five-year-old Serb wanted to return to the match. It was also captured by the cameras present, on their footage it can be seen that he tried to get up from the stretcher and showed the doctors and teammates that he was fine.
Gudelj is the brother of the thirty-one-year-old Serbian midfielder Nemanja Gudelj, who has been playing for FC Sevilla in La Liga since 2019.
