Sebelas Maret University (US) Solo stops all activities outside the network (offline) or offline on 18-25 June 2021. The closure was carried out after three lecturers and one administrative staff died in the last two days due to exposure Covid-19. Corona cases were also found in all faculties and units at UNS.
“Today (University) Eleven Maret is sad. We lost our lecturers, our friends because of Covid-19,” said UNS Chancellor, Jamal Wiwoho during a virtual prayer event, Thursday (17/6) night.
The three lecturers are Mohammad Arif Taufikurrohman from the Faculty of Medicine, Didik Sri Wahyono from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and Medianto from the Faculty of Engineering. Meanwhile, one administrative staff is Marita Eli Susilowati from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. They died of Covid-19 in the last two days.
Because of the sad news, Jamal requested a report on the development of Covid-19 cases in all faculties and units at UNS. It was found that at least 25 lecturers, employees and students were confirmed positive for Covid-19.
“Almost every faculty has Covid. We pray for those who are positive for COVID to be given health and be given a speedy recovery,” he said.
The temporary closure of UNS was carried out to prevent the spread of the virus in the campus environment. Activity restrictions are set through Circular (SE) No. 218/UN27/TU/2021 concerning Temporary Restrictions on All Activities within UNS.
“Starting tomorrow morning until next Friday, all activities at UNS will be subject to restrictions,” he said.
In the SE signed by the Vice Chancellor for General Affairs and Human Resources, Bandi, the restriction stated that all lecture activities and meetings were held online or online from their respective places.
The closure also applies to sports facilities and places of worship in the campus environment. All faculties and units at UNS are also advised not to receive guests as long as restrictions apply.
“For example, tomorrow the presence of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Pak Airlangga, which was originally scheduled to be offline, we propose to change to online tomorrow afternoon,” he said.
