Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said it was forced to stop aid in the Gaza Strip within 48 hours. The decision was taken because the Israeli siege hampered Gaza’s access to fuel.
UNRWA’s head in Gaza, Thomas White, said that fuel had not been allowed into Gaza for more than a month. This causes humanitarian conditions to reach a critical level.
“Humanitarian operations in Gaza will stop in the next 48 hours because no fuel will be allowed into Gaza,” White wrote on social media X on Monday (11/13/2023).

Currently medical and communications services in Gaza have also collapsed. Palestinian doctors stated that hospitals were running out of fuel, so they could not save patients, including newborn children in incubators, because electric generators stopped working.
Israeli forces have cordoned off the vicinity of al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza, where medical workers and at least 650 patients are trapped inside. Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said 32 patients had died in the last three days due to a lack of electricity.
Israel surrounded it and alleged that the hospital was located above a tunnel complex used by Hamas. However, this accusation was denied by the hospital.
“The tanks are in front of the hospital. We are under a complete blockade. This is a completely civilian area. Only hospital facilities, hospital patients, doctors and other civilians live in the hospital. Someone has to stop this ,” Dr Ahmed El Mokhallalati, a surgeon, was quoted as saying Reuters.
He added that Israel had bombed water tanks, water wells and water pumps for hospitals and those who remained were “barely surviving”.
Officials have also warned that conditions resulting from the bombing and siege could lead to outbreaks of disease, and access to clean water is severely limited.
“This morning our two main water distribution contractors stopped working – they ran out of fuel – which will leave 200,000 people without drinking water,” White said.
Mansour Shouman, a Palestinian refugee who fled northern Gaza and sought refuge at Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza, told Al Jazeera that conditions at the location were “primitive”.
“Let’s put aside food and water, electricity, fuel. There is no safety, there is no security,” he said. “We were told, ‘Go south, you’ll be safe there.’ “However, every day I hear more and more ambulances coming to the hospital. I see more people carrying their loved ones to the grave.”
Palestinian authorities say that Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed at least 11,240 people, including more than 4,600 children, since fighting began on October 7. The UN said on Monday that 101 workers in Gaza had been killed since the start of the fighting.
