ZEVENAAR – A loud bang caused some unrest in the Privaslaan in Zevenaar on Thursday evening. Emergency services rushed out en masse. Residents were evacuated.

The fire brigade and police went to Privaslaan in Zevenaar around 10.15 pm for a house fire. It turned out that something else was going on: residents had heard an ‘extremely loud bang’, after which they saw smoke coming from a balcony.

The cause of the explosion is still unknown. The police assume for the time being that fireworks were thrown on the balcony. As a precaution, some of the residents were evacuated.

The incident attracted a lot of attention. Before the fire brigade arrived, a large part of the neighborhood had already left.
