Unrest in the Bundesliga: crisis of confidence around the supervisory board

Dissatisfied in the Bundesliga?

According to research from “90minuten”, various differences of opinion between the clubs should have arisen around coping with the current corona crisis, which should have led to a crisis of confidence in the current supervisory board of the league.

LASK President Siegmund Gruber in particular is said to have incurred the anger of other club representatives.

This culminated in the fact that at the meeting on Friday seven of the twelve Bundesliga clubs supported an application to expand the supervisory board.

Salzburg, Rapid, Sturm, Austria, WAC, Altach and Hartberg are said to have voted in favor of what a majority was achieved, but not the necessary two-thirds majority.

While the SKN St. Pölten is said to have abstained, the Admira, LASK, WSG Tirol and Mattersburg are said to have voted against the motion.

Salzburg, Sturm and Viennese clubs all pull together

With the chairman Philip Thonhauser, Admira has a representative on the supervisory board as well as the LASK with Siegmund Gruber (deputy chairman) and the WSG with Diana Langes-Swarovski.

Erwin Fuchs (Kapfenberg / Deputy Chairman), Christian Jauk (Sturm Graz), Volker Viechtbauer (Salzburg), Gerhard Stocker (Wacker Innsbruck) and ÖFB General Secretary Thomas Hollerer (without voting rights) complete the Supervisory Board.

It is striking that with Salzburg, Sturm anyway the Viennese associations Austria and Rapid support four large clubs, which do not regularly unite.

The supervisory board is to be expanded by three members: Rapids managing director Christoph Peschek, Austria board member Markus Kraetschmer and a representative to be nominated from the HPYBET 2nd division.

Kraetschmer: “Rapid and Austria in one boat”

Kratschmer at least confirms in the “Kurier” that the two Viennese rivals are again playing a more intense one-two pass than in the recent past:

“Sitting with all rivalry Rapid and Austria in a boat. Community is now required. I make no secret of that Rapid and Austria are currently exchanging very intensively. “

Salzburg’s business manager Stephan Reiter said at “90minuten”: “FC Red Bull Salzburg supported this application because it just seems sensible to supplement the competence on the supervisory board with other clubs, especially in such challenging times as this It is important for me to emphasize that this application has nothing to do with the professional work of the Bundesliga office. “

Criticism of LASK boss Gruber

According to “90minuten”, the seven clubs are in reality “a thorn in the side, that of all the clubs that are under the supervision of the Bundesliga are always on the brakes when it comes to restarting the season. It was probably not a coincidence that LASK President Siegmund Gruber shone with absence in the Bundesliga conference on Friday – in one of the most important meetings of the past few years. “

Gruber also received criticism because the LASK had not adhered to the agreement to resume training on Tuesday at the earliest. The Upper Austrians started on Monday and also violated corona rules.

One of the tenors among other clubs is that the boss of the current league leader would not currently think outside the box.

An expansion of the Bundesliga supervisory board is not yet off the table. At the Annual General Meeting on May 7th, a vote could be taken again if an application was made – then also with the involvement of the clubs from the HPYBET 2nd League, who also have to vote in this case in accordance with the statutes.
