Lebanon and Israel bombarded each other with rockets on Thursday evening and Friday morning. The attacks are a result of the unrest in Jerusalem, where Israeli troops raided the Al Aqsa mosque two days in a row.
Israeli troops cleared out the important mosque on Wednesday and Thursday, while Muslims were praying at the time.
According to Israel, Muslims who had previously pelted police officers with stones and fireworks, among other things, hid in the mosque. The raids led to hundreds of arrests and several injuries.
After the raids, dozens of rockets were fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip and from Lebanon in retaliation. Israel then bombed targets in both areas.
The targets of the bombings are locations belonging to the Palestinian movement Hamas, Israel says. Major explosions took place in the south of Lebanon, the news agency reports AFP.
