A video tape of just one minute with images of the president John F. Kennedy in your car after being shot in Dallas (Texas) on November 22, 1963 has just come out to auction. The video contains little-known images that A truck driver from Dallas identified as Dale Carpenter who took them from a highway. Now, a grandson of Carpenter, named James Gates, has decided to sell them.
The auction, which began on Wednesday, is organized by the RR Auction house, which will have the film for sale on its website until September 28. A few hours after starting, the film had reached a price of $12,100 (about €10,920).
On the 8mm colored tape you can see secret service agent clint hill in the vehicle already Jackie Kennedy on her husband’s bodynow deceased, in the back seat. At the time, the presidential car was speeding toward Parkland Hospital following the attack while he was riding in the presidential car in Dealey Plaza that claimed the president’s life.
The grandson who found the unpublished images has pointed out that the film was stored in a plastic milk carton Dean Foods and it was in his closet for several years. Carpenter’s material will also be included in a documentary Agent Number 9: The Clint Hill Story, which will be released next year.
