Usually, it’s just to add variety to the breaks, and the sponsor who donates the prize somehow suspects that he is not at risk of any major “harm”. But during Friday’s duel between České Budějovice Motor and Mladá Boleslav, fan Petr won the 700,000 zloty jackpot when the puck sailed across the field after his shot into a narrow opening.
“This is just incredible! That hole is really big, exactly for the puck, and someone hits it from a place where the hole is almost invisible,” Motor’s marketing director Tomáš Kučera wrote in amazement on Twitter.
The club subsequently also published a video of the “golden” shot. The puck flies across the ice surface for five seconds, and you can tell how the audience starts to get louder with every second, until it finally explodes with enthusiasm. That the spectator can do it with a hockey stick, but it is not a coincidence, because it is Petr Běhounk, captain of the para-hockey players of the České Budějovice Motor.
The para-hockey players subsequently published a humorous message on their Facebook profile, which reads: “We would like to disappoint all the fans of HC Motor České Budějovice and assure that we will not give up our captain! Petr, congratulations on your fantastic win. You deserve it!”
However, the hockey players also brought joy to the fans of České Budějovice, when they first equalized at 4:4 at 59:59, and then decided on the win in overtime.
Last September, for example, a Finnish fan had a similarly lucky break, who hit a basket from half the court during a basketball game in Prague and took home a reward of 100,000 crowns.
