We’re just still waiting for similar scenery to appear in games. It’s winter and it would be nice to be able to walk in a green, peaceful forest instead of a depressing and dull urban development.
Unreal Engine 5.3 has already shown several times that in good hands it is a tool for creating amazing worlds. We already wrote about a few demos by the same author here, and you had the opportunity to download them and try them on your own mouse. Today’s demo is unfortunately not available for download, but it is possible that it will become available after some time. It’s not even officially available in the developer store, it’s just a taster and a sample of what’s possible to create today. And let’s just say that’s enough.
If you stopped the video, did a screenshost and showed it to someone, I doubt they would know it was a virtual landscape and not a piece of real land. The author mentions in the description that it is a four square kilometer procedurally generated map with technologies such as Nanite, Lumen, dynamic wind and others, including hundreds of different objects (trees, bushes, etc.). The result is really a completely real walk through a beautiful green landscape with various trees, grass, bushes, pools and all in all it is beautiful. Considering what’s outside the windows now, it’s a welcome distraction. And just to clarify, the demo runs in 4K on an RTX 4090.
