The family of Ieva Volmanes in Sunīši, Penkules region experienced such horrors during the storm that they would not wish on anyone, not even the enemy. The house that eight people called home has been partially demolished.
“In one moment, the sky was black, and then I looked – there was hail, a few grains the size of two eggs. There was an abnormal hailstorm. I was working in the “Tērvete” boarding house. I had a mother with a baby at home.

During the storm, the householders were thoroughly frightened. One of the cats is also missing. Fortunately, no one in the family was hurt, but now we have to think about how to live on. The film, which is now placed in place of the roof covering, will not withstand the next storm of nature. In addition, all the window panes have fallen out in one part of the house. The family suffered unimaginable losses.
“My husband and I are both disabled of the second group. We have four children together, two of them are adults. One child is 17 years old. My retired mother, my youngest son, who is 2.5 years old, as well as my grandson, who is also 2.5 years old, the eldest son Marcis and his girl live in the house. The money is enough to live on. If it weren’t for this situation, I wouldn’t ask anyone for anything in my life! We could already try to take those loans, but we won’t pay them back for 20 years, if not 30. We will be retired and we won’t pay them back yet,” says Ieva emotionally.
The Volman family needs the support of fellow human beings. The grief-stricken woman says that various construction materials will be useful. Due to the damaged roof, plaster is falling from the ceiling in the residential building, which means that the premises will also need repair. Not only the house, but also the roof of the barn needs to be restored. They will not be able to cope on their own, so they are asking for the support of society.
