Unprecedented Flooding at Yankee Stadium Causes Major Rain Delay

Heavy rains in the Bronx caused flooding at Yankee Stadium, causing a major rain delay in the game between the local team and the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend.

Various images published on social networks show fans walking through the water inside Yankee Stadium prior to the game that was scheduled for Saturday afternoon, leaving scenes never seen before in the venue.

The National Weather Service (NWS) had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Bronx just that Saturday afternoon, warning of winds up to 60 mph and possible pea-sized hail.

The stadium field was also partially flooded by the heavy downpour despite the efforts of maintenance staff to cover the diamond and prevent the field from being damaged.

The videos also show how in some areas of the stadium the water covered up to the ankles of the fans who could not avoid getting wet despite finding shelter from the downpour.
