/ world today news/ Unprecedentedly, the BSP was left with only one councilor in Vidin, after 6 people from the group left due to disagreement with the party’s policy at the national level.

“In the last few years, the BSP has lost its image as a left-wing party, as a party representing left-wing people and as a party that can protect the interests of left-wing people in Bulgaria and in Vidin. People have supported us to be in the municipal council with a specific mission. This mission is to defend their true leftist ideas, but in the BSP we can no longer do that. That’s why we also decided to leave the party in which we are priamans, with the ideas with which we were nursed and to found a group that we think will protect the interests of Vidin residents much better.
The idea of the former Reds is to form a structure that will defend the interests of the people in the local parliament and more:

“We already have over 30 people who have stated in writing that by leaving the Socialist Party, they will join our structure, which I believe will be real, not as this thing is so far.”
Thus, after Kaloyan Borisov was expelled from the BSP, only one councilor remains in the local parliament.

“I remain the only representative of the BSP in the municipal council. As such, I will work for the remaining time of the mandate, guided by the party’s principles, constitution and program. Opposition should not be an end in itself. It means having my own opinion on the problems that will arise, it means criticizing when I judge, but all positive, progressive proposals of the municipality, when in the name of Vidin and the citizens of the municipality, I will support them”.
Both camps of former and one current socialist were sent off by councilors with applause, and what this will lead to in the boardroom remains to be seen. At today’s meeting, the local deputies considered a total of 36 pre-set agenda items.
