Unprecedented Announcement: USA Today Supports Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden | Univision News Elections in the US 2020

President Donald Trump and his Democratic contender, Joe Biden, will have their microphones silent in some moments when their rival is speaking during the next and last face-to-face before the November 3 elections, the commission of debates.

“According to the agreed rules for debate, each candidate will have two minutes of uninterrupted time to make their arguments at the beginning of each 15-minute segment of the debate. These arguments will be followed by a period of open discussion,” the commission said in a statement quoted by CNN.

Likewise, the commission asserted that these changes were implemented due to the disorder registered in the first debate, mainly due to Trump’s frequent interruptions and his discussions with Fox News’ Chris Wallace.

The commission hopes that, with this decision, “the candidates will respect the time of others, which will promote civil discourse for the benefit of the public that sees it.”

At first, three debates had been organized, before the second of them was canceled after the president refused to participate in a virtual way, after his positive diagnosis of coronavirus and his hospitalization.

The last debate between Trump and Biden is scheduled for this Thursday in Nashville. Kristen Welker, from NBC News, will be in charge of moderating the meeting in which the six topics she chose will be touched: fight against the coronavirus, American families, racial issues, climate change, national security and leadership.
