Red Bull Racing F1 team principal Christian Horner said it was “unpleasant” to see sister team AlphaTauri’s car suffer an engine failure at the Italian Grand Prix. Yuki Tsunoda, during the formation lap before the first start, saw white smoke coming out of his machine and stopped due to suspected engine failure. The F1 Italian GP ended without the official start of the race.
The AlphaTauri has the exact same gearbox and Honda engine as the Red Bull, so Horner said he wasn’t comfortable seeing the sister car stop. “It’s always uncomfortable because we have the same gearbox, the same engine,” Horner said. “So we have a lot of common components. It was not pleasant to see that car retire on the formation lap.” Record winning streak. It is reliability that the record can be interrupted by a driver’s mistake other than bad luck, and I hope that Honda’s name will not remain in a bad way in a season that will be talked about for generations to come.
