The Czech hockey players will probably exchange groups with the USA at the World Cup 2023 (May 18-28) and start the championship with matches in Riga.
The organizers decided to take the opportunity of one change in the composition of the groups, as they assume that the Czech team will attract more fans in Riga. The sport.cz website informed about it, referring to the manager of the Czech team, Jan Černý.
The Czechs were originally supposed to start the World Cup with group matches in Tampere, just like this year. “A few days ago we received a message from the organizing committee of MS 2023 that the Czech Republic is ready to move to the B-group in Riga in exchange for the USA. In principle, we are not against it. the detailed program of the championship has not yet been published, “ quoted Černý sport.cz.
The Czechs would meet Slovakia if they moved to the Riga B-Group, they would also encounter Canada, Switzerland, Latvia, Norway, Kazakhstan and Slovenia.
