Kozhikode: Unni R said that he should not have written the screenplay of the movie ‘Leela’ and there were mistakes in making the story into a movie. Unni R Manas opened his mind during the session ‘Kathakaldane sana’ held on the second day of the Malabar Literature Festival. He was responding to a question whether he felt that the soul would be lost while making the stories into films.
‘The Leela story itself was better. It is broken. I shouldn’t have written that. I am not satisfied at all with Leela movie. Later I felt that it was better not to touch that story’- Unni R said. Unni R said that ‘Prati Poovan Kozhi’, ‘Ozhivudhivasthe Kali’, ‘Leela’ etc. were made into movies in his stories and the rest of ‘Bigby’ and ‘Charlie’ were written as movies.
Later, it was realized that it is better not to make a film about one’s own stories. I have also felt that when stories are made into films, the soul gets drained’ – Unni R added. Apart from Unni R, story writers PK Parakkadav, Shahine K Rafeeq and Francis Nerona participated in the program on the second day of the Malabar Literature Festival with sea as the main theme. Munir Agragami moderated the program which was well attended.
