The full premiere of the new “Matrix” in cinemas took place only on December 22, when the picture reached home distribution. If the specialized press greeted the return of the legendary action movie very coolly, then the audience and fans reacted to the film without the slightest indulgence. Users smash “The Matrix: Resurrection” with negative reviews, calling the film “unnecessary fanfiction.”

On Metacritic average grade from users is only 3.8 points out of 10 possible. The film is scolded for almost every element. The film’s director Lana Wachowski gets the most. According to viewers, she could not keep the original style of the trilogy and lost the main feature of the entire franchise – the production of action. For many, the battles were “boring”, as was the plot itself.

It should be noted that on Rotten Tomatoes with verified ratings from audiences, the film was also received coolly. Users also noted poor production, but rated the film closer to the average with 63% freshness.
